PJ German Shorthaired Pointer Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Whitesboro, Texas

PJ was rescued by a couple whod found him running loose where theyd lived before moving to Whitesboro TX. They drove all around the area, trying to find this big exuberant young dogs owner.

No luck with finding PJs owner, but one man was wanted to take PJ and use him for hunting wild hogs.

This good-hearted couple did not want to place PJ in a potentially dangerous place. So they brought him to me and donated funds to get him fixed and to buy a big Dogloo for his foster yard here.

Theyve visited PJ several times. Theyve contacted me for updates.
PJ is friendly and affectionate. He is not at all aggressive.

At first, he seemed contented to stay in his yard, especially after I added a spayed female to keep him company.
But pretty soon PJ developed a big case of wanderlust. He chewed through the hot wire that runs near the ground and fence line of all our dog yards. Then he dug out to freedom. He has dug out of two yards, so far. The dog sharing his yard followed him, first time. Second time she stayed in the yard.

I moved PJ to a 20 ft by 6 ft by 5 ft quarantine pen with a roof and a cement floor until we could repair the fence again. During this time, my husband entered the pen to feed, water and clean

and was knocked down by PJ, who then pushed the gate open and ran out.

So, for a while PJ was chained within the pen. He could reach everything within the pen except the gate. I went in, twice a day, leashed him and took him for a walk in the woods pasture.

He got better about pulling hard -- too hard for a child or unprepared adult to hold without being pulled off his/her feet. Meanwhile we fortified the hot wire around the two dog yard fence lines that PJ had destroyed.
PJ is now back in his original dog yard with another companion dog.

First thing he did was test the hot wire.

Ha! Only took one time of being zapped for PJ to decide to stay within his clearly defined boundary.

You might ask why I dont just let PJ run loose. After all, we live in the country.

The reason is simple:

PJ would be shot by any one of several owners of cattle or horses or goats or chickens in this area.

I pray that someone will take PJ soon and work with him. Hes smart, good-natured, fixed and current on shots.

And hes free to a good home.
